Birthday Inspiration with PP518 sketch Challenge

Hello fellow crafters! How are you this fine day? I’ve been a bit quiet the past couple of weeks with some crazy busy times at work. It was also my mum’s birthday last week and I didn’t want her to see all of her birthday cards on my blog before she received them. Never fear though, they will be making an appearance soon. Today I’m sharing a card inspired by the Paper Players PP518 sketch challenge. This is my first time joining in with the Paper Players but I’ve been avidly watching their challenges for a while now. And I finally got my bum into gear to join in.

PP518 Sketch Challenge

A Diamond Easel Birthday Rendition

Our family seems to have a lot of birthdays towards the end of the year. This time around the card is for my husband’s aunty. We’re giving it to her on the weekend so hopefully she likes it!

Diamond easel card using the PP518 sketch challenge as inspiration for the front

I’ve been wanting to make a diamond easel card for a while now but have never gotten around to it. When I saw this challenge I thought it’d work quite well with the diamond easel so I gave it a go and voila! You can find the instructions for how to cut out the card base and matts over at Nina’s Southern Accents which I followed to make sure I got my dimensions correct. I made my card base from Gorgeous Grape cardstock with Highland Heather matts and Just Jade or Whisper White panels layered on top.

I used scrap pieces from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (DSP) to create the front and inside cover layers in keeping with the PP518 sketch challenge. The “they say it’s YOUR BIRTHDAY!” sentiment on the front of the card is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays. The inside sentiment is from a lovely retired stamp set called Trust God. I used some flowers out of my stash as a stopper for the easel front of the card to rest against.

And there you have it. My entry into the PP518 sketch challenge and a lovely birthday card (if I do say so myself) for my husband’s aunty. I hope you like it too! If you love it let me know in the comments.

Thank you so much LeAnne for your super fun sketch! I only thought of this combo because green and purple are my favourite colours so decided to experiment and see 😊
